Find hidden and "very hidden" sheets in Excel

Sheets can be hidden (unhide from the sheet tab menu) or very hidden (only visible in the VBA editor). Both still feed formulas.

Why it matters

  • Reviewers sign off on what they can see.
  • Very hidden sheets are sometimes used to hide overrides or old data.

How to find it manually in Excel

  1. Right-click any sheet tab → Unhide to see hidden sheets.
  2. Open the VBA editor (Alt + F11) and check each sheet’s Visible property for xlSheetVeryHidden.

How DraftReview detects it

The workbook structure is read directly, so both hidden and very hidden sheets are listed.

How to fix it

  1. Include the sheet in review or delete it if it is no longer needed.
  2. Document why a sheet must stay hidden.
