Excel error checker
Drop in a workbook and get a ranked list of formula risks — broken references, hard-coded overrides, inconsistent formulas, hidden content and external links — with the exact cell for each. Runs entirely in your browser.
How it works
Drop your workbook
Choose an .xlsx or .xlsm file. It is read locally and never uploaded.
Get a risk score
Every sheet and formula is scanned in seconds. Findings are ranked high, medium and low.
Fix with evidence
Each finding shows the cell, the formula and why it matters, so you can fix or document it.
What it looks for
Hard-coded overrides
Typed numbers inside calculated columns.
Learn more →Inconsistent formulas
One formula that references a different row than its neighbours.
Learn more →#REF! references
Formulas pointing at deleted cells or sheets.
Learn more →Error results
#N/A, #DIV/0!, #VALUE! and other error values.
Learn more →External links
Formulas that depend on other workbooks.
Learn more →Hidden content
Hidden and very hidden sheets, rows and columns.
Learn more →Where teams use it
Before you send a model
Catch the override you forgot about before a client, investor or manager finds it.
Reviewing someone else’s file
Get a map of the risky cells before you start ticking numbers.
Month-end close
Run every reconciliation and schedule through the same checks before sign-off.
Frequently asked questions
Is my spreadsheet uploaded to your servers?
No. The checker runs inside your browser using a Web Worker. The file is read on your device and never sent anywhere — you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it still works.
What kinds of Excel errors does it find?
Broken references (#REF!), formulas returning errors such as #N/A or #DIV/0!, hard-coded numbers inside formula columns, formulas that break the pattern of their neighbours, links to other workbooks, formulas fed by blank cells, and hidden sheets, rows and columns.
Does it work with .xls, CSV or Google Sheets?
It reads .xlsx, .xlsm, .xltx and .xltm. Save legacy .xls files as .xlsx first. For Google Sheets, use File → Download → Microsoft Excel (.xlsx).
Are macros executed?
Never. The workbook is parsed as data; VBA code is not run. If a file contains macros the report says so.
Is it free?
Yes. Free checks show the risk score, all counts and the first five findings in full. Pro unlocks every finding and exports.
Does a clean result mean my workbook is correct?
No tool can prove that. A clean result means none of the deterministic checks found a problem. Business logic, assumptions and inputs still need a human review.
