Excel reconciliation checker
Write the tie-outs you check by hand every month once — this total equals the sum of that range, the pack agrees with the trial balance — and run them against any version of the files in seconds.
How it works
Add your workbooks
One or several files. They stay in your browser.
Describe the tie-outs
Totals, cross-file matches, formula requirements and required cells.
See differences
Each failed rule shows the calculated amount, the reported amount and the difference.
What it looks for
Footing
A range must add up to a total, within a tolerance.
Cross-references
A figure must match another sheet or another workbook.
Sign-insensitive matches
Compare absolute amounts when one side is stored negative.
Formula requirements
A key cell must be a formula that references a given sheet.
Required inputs
Cells or sheets that must exist and be filled.
Clear differences
Calculated vs reported amounts with the gap.
Where teams use it
Board and management packs
Prove every number in the pack agrees with the ledger.
Account reconciliations
Check that supporting schedules foot to the balance.
Audit workpapers
Re-perform cross-references on the final version.
Frequently asked questions
What is a tie-out rule?
A rule that two numbers must agree: a detail range must add up to a total, a figure in one sheet must equal a figure in another file, a key cell must be a formula, or certain cells must be filled.
Can I tie out across different workbooks?
Yes. Add all the workbooks and refer to cells in another file as [file.xlsx]Sheet!A1. References without a file name use the first workbook.
Which values are used for formulas?
The values Excel last calculated and saved in the file. If a file was generated by a script and never opened in Excel, formula cells may have no saved value — open and save it in Excel first.
Is my data uploaded?
No. Rules run on your device. Nothing is stored on our servers.
